The Spike Munro that everyone knows is witty, lyrical, amusing, scary and sometimes profoundly serious. His first collection of poems highlighted these qualities, many with a distinct Scottish feel as he delved into his Edinburgh old town working class roots.
He has embraced every possible opportunity to perform in bars clubs, at parties, special events, anywhere in fact from Edinburgh and Glasgow to as far as Stonehaven. He has also hosted many events including fundraisers. More recently, he has been performing at LGBT events where he feels more comfortable to explore themes and topics that reflect his Queer sensibilities. Recently at the Lavender Menace Archive room he unleashed his ‘inner Catullus’ to an appreciative young audience. Last year the organiser and host of the LGBT Winter celebration at the Charteris Centre introduced a bemused Spike as a Queer Elder. Spike has lived a colourful life, much of which is undocumented, he feels the time is now ripe to wear his Queer Elder bunnet with Pride.
